Poland receives a warning

Team Poland receives a warning from IC2 organizers, as the tournament rules clearly inform. The reason for this is the lack of players of Team Poland during the kick-off time of the match Czech Republic - Poland. The rules clearly infrom what to do in this type of situation:

"If a team (one or both of the teams) doesn't have the enough amount of players from their match roster to start the match, a warning is given and the match is re-arranged."

From three warnings, a team is disqualified from the tournament.

Organizers will soon contact the coach and other staff of Team Poland to get a hang of if they are still participating in this tournament and can we probably set a new playing time and date for the match. Until that, the next IC2 match is played on September 5th between the Netherlands and Czech Republic.

During the match, Team Netherlands showed a few unsportmanship acts, scoring while the match was played on 7v6 situation and taking their goalkeeper off from the field a few minutes before full-time. Because of this, the organizers have decided to give a warning to Team Netherlands. In case of three warnings given to a team, this particular team will be disqualified from the tournament. Questions about the warning and possible complainments about it can be sended via note to Soccer nick "IC2".

Soccer-Sanomat speculates the match result on their site:
"Netherlands will be the active side right from the start, but the first goal will probably be scored in the end of the first half. In the second half the dutch players might get a little impatient because of the lack of goals and Poland have will have a chance to take the game. Still, we bet the result will be 3-1 to the Netherlands."

Finland - United Kingdom tonight - 19:00 UK-time, 20:00 CET, 21:00 FIN-time!

International Challenge 2 starts tonight with the exciting opening match Finland - United Kingdom. The teams have faced each other three times, all of them ending in a Finland victory (2-0, 7-0, 2-0). The teams battled in the EURO2008 final, and haven't played any international matches after that, so we can talk about some real rivalry and emotional match here.

The match starts around 20:10 of Central European Time. Add an hour if your from Finland, take one off if your from United Kingdom. But there's lots of happening already before the kick-off, so be ready to arrive a bit earlier.

Players are advised to show-up on around 19:30 Central European Time.

Things to remind on today's match:
  • The players announcement is about 20-30 minutes before the kick-off. Pay attention, follow the rules given by the organizers and join the announcement.
  • In the moment of writing, teams haven't yet published their match rosters. Which leads to, ofcourse, that the players announcement is done based on the tournament rosters. Don't be suprised if some player isn't online or is online but isn't playing.
  • The official song of the tournament is announced just before the kick-off.
  • We procced to the match with a countdown from 30 -> 0. We'd like to invite you to join this by sending those numbers in the match room's public chat.
  • The room is muted when the match starts and voice rights are given.
  • The winner of this 2x10 minute match qualifies to the International Challenge 2 Championship Tournament.
  • TeamSpeak2 commentating: Server "ts.shellit.org:8000", Channel: "IC2 - SOCCER", Pass "ic2ball2"
Soccer-Sanomat (soccer-sanomat.blogspot.com) writes about the match this way (translated):

"One of the strengths of Team Finland is the wideness in their roster. The team is full of great players to each position, but the biggest question here is the inexperience of the team. Many of the players are having their international debut in this match."

Team England is full of experienced international players. Their biggest problem is propably the new players of the team, who may start to try a bit too much, which may lead to some arguing and other problems."

"Blister has so far scored incredible eight international goals, which is more than anyone else in this game. If everything goes OK, the magic line of ten international goals might be achieved."

"joni may be the one who leads Finland to victory. Has incredible view of the game and can pass some long crosses to the attackers of Finland."

"Källström is a player who works till the end. Has a great ability to save shots even from the goal line"

"Cesc is the international veteran of England who knows how to give some good curling passes. Gets their game forward even in the hardest times."

"Lupoli plays good with anyone and knows the skills of individual play also"

"If all goes OK, Sharp can be the biggest star of the match. On good days he's unstoppable, but there's bad days also..."

P.ZenN, you've now selected your team United Kingdom for the upcoming International Challenge 2 tournament. You've chosen 7 defenders, 6 midfielders and 5 attackers. For example, Finland is rumored to choose only 4 midfielders and a few of them are really attacking ones.

The winners really aren't decided in the midfield as same as in real football and the middle section is often crossed very fast. This turns a real question: to what are you needing six midfielders in todays soccer?

- These midfielders can almost play in any position possible, it offers variety to our squad. Also some players have told me there not 100% sure if they can play hense the number of midfielders.

There has been some discussion about disagreements between, for example, you and Gerrard. What made you to choose the safest option and the most excepted team United Kingdom? Were you worried that if you would drop off guys that you maybe would have wanted to, some other players would have been signed off from the team too?

- Not really, I always believe experience will win. Even if players are on form I would like to think an experienced player has played under these circumstances and would know what to do in these situations. I believe the team I chose can battle for the #1 spot.

What is your goal in this tournament: to challenge Finland or to crush the Netherlands and all the other underdogs? If you, as you obvisously will, choose the first option: how realistic do you think it is? The goal differential between Finland and England / United Kingdom is 11 against 0 in three games.

- Our goal is to win the tournament, nothing less. People say it's the taking part that counts but we have been in Finland's shadow long enough it's time to take the title back to UK. I would like to think that every Nation has started from scratch with the new updates, it will be very fun and I am eager to see what the teams will bring to the tournament.

What do you think was the reason for the flop in the United Kingdom coach search? Only one runned for the job (you), and no voting was needed to be arranged. Are the national team matches B class events for british players and is the whole UK community here in IC2 just to have fun, not to win games and titles?

- I think there is a lot of voting apathy amongst the UK players which I don't really like, a win is a win but I was quite disheartend when I seen nobody putting their name forward. Maybe they can't handle the pressure or something but I'm pleased I'm here now.

Finally, what kind of greetings you would like to send to Clinton, the coach of the opponent team in your very important tournament debut against Finland?

- Just to wish him all the best and to hope that he has picked a balanced team, there was a controversial issue stating he has picked nearly every player from PSV Eindhoven. Anyway I'm in no position to question his choices, I wish him all the best.

The easier qualification of EURO2008 finalists divides opinions

The first poll of the IC2 websites left the final opinion undecided, as 9 from 18 voters thought that decision to give Finland and United Kingdom an easier qualification was the right one. 2 voters think the idea is good, but the timing is wrong: the top nations don't need any advantage as they are alredy so good. 7 voters didn't like the way the qualification is organized.

The next poll is now open and will be closed after 2 weeks of voting. We'll ask the result of the opening match of the 1st qualification round played between Finland and United Kingdom. Please cast your opinion.

Vote for the official tournament song!

It's time to raise the fever and select the official song of the International Challenge 2 tournament. In the inaugural national team tournament, EURO2008, the official song was "Superstar" by Shaggy, as it also was one of the official songs of the real EURO2008 tournament. Now it's up to you which song will be connected to this IC2 tournament from now on. Which song you would like to hear after you've scored the decisive extra-time goal in the tournament final?

We've pre-selected fifteen different options, which are listed here in alphabetical order. The songs have also got their voting numbers based on this order. Please select your favorites and send your vote to soccer nick "IC2". You are allowed to give 3, 2 and 1 point(s) to your favorites and an additional -3 point to one song that you don't like at all. Please mark your votes clearly and use the voting numbers too. Those are there to avoid misunderstandings. The song with most points after the voting will be choosen as the official song of International Challenge 2, and will be heard on TeamSpeak2 (tournament's official commentating) just before every single tournament match. It will also be heard here in the tournament sites and it will be used in our tournament videos and so on. It will be the unquestionable IC2 song.

The voting result is published on the opening ceremonies of the tournament, which are held in the 1st Qualify Round match Finland - United Kingdom, played on August 5th. Let's vote!

  3. If a player is needed to be removed from the match room (see "Match rules"), a warning is given to the players team and the player will receive a ban to the teams next match.
  • If a single team receives three warnings inside the tournament, the team will be disqualified.
  • The organizers reserve the right to punish players and teams in case of a clear foul act, even it wouldn't be mentioned here.
  • After the punishment is given, there's a period of 48 hours to send an official complaint about it to tournament organizers. After this, the case is re-processed and there will be a vote about the decision. The representative of the organizers, one randomly selected coach, one randomly selected tournament player and one randomly selected game user can take part to the vote. The voters can't be from the team that the case is considering, or neither of the players that are part of the case. In a draw, the vote of the tournament organizers is the decisive.
